Near the end of the Civil War, Josh Logan's best friend, Rory, died on the battlefield. Josh promised Rory, he'd take the news to is family in Texas. Now after delivering the heartbreaking message, with Rory's lovely sister in tears, Josh saddles up to continue his journey to the Colorado Territory. His brother needs help, and Josh must reach him before the first snow. But Bill Nance, Rory's father, has a different idea. He's in danger of losing the ranch to rustlers and land-grabbers. Bill implores Josh to stay and help save the ranch. Josh can't leave a friend's family in trouble, and as he has before, he answers the call of duty. Threatened, called out, and shot, Josh will not surrender. Relying on his wit and fierce determination, with the help of Mister Winchester and Mister Colt, he goes against the vicious gang attempting to steal the ranch.
