Toddler Story Time

Tuesdays at 11 a.m.

Perfect for kids from 0 to 3. Join the librarian in singing classic children songs, reading books from our collection, hearing classic children stories, and playing with manipulative toys. You never know what to expect at Toddler Story Time. This program is completely free, parents are required to participate.

Classic Story Time

Wednesdays at 11 a.m.

Perfect for kids from 3 to 5. Join the librarian for the classic Story Time you remember from your childhood. The program opens with a hand-selected book from our collection, and then kids and parents are directed on how to make a craft at their level with a theme from the book. This program is completely free, parents are required to participate.

Beyond Books

Fridays at 11am

Perfect for kids Kindergarten-4th grade. Join the librarian for some stories, exercise, art experiences, science, math, and more! This program is completely free. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Chapter Chat

Fridays at 10am

Perfect for middle school kids. Join the librarian in reading a chapter book together and then participating in a fun activity related to the book. Once the book has been finished, the group will have a final activity that could range from watching the related movie, having a book party, meeting with the author, etc. This program is completely free.

Silent Book Club

Every Other Tuesday Night from 5:00 to 6:00

Perfect for anyone who wants the quiet companionship of reading with others. The session will start with a light welcoming, and then 30-45 minutes of silent reading time. A brief discussion will follow as desired. Learn more about this growing community at Silentbook.club.

Science Day

First Friday of the month at 11am

Perfect for all ages. Join the librarians in several fun science experiments and finish the hour out with a STEAM (science, tech, engineering, art, and mathematics) art project. This program is completely free. Parents are required to attend.

Tea Time

3rd Tuesday of the month at 10am

Perfect for all ages. Join the librarian for a fun tea time experience. Each month will have a different theme that includes fun decorations, treats, drinks, and a fun activity for the kids to do while we read poetry. It is a relaxing program that helps us slow down our day just a little bit. This program is completely free. Parents are required to participate.

Shadows on the Plains

Shadows on the Plains is a historical archive for Eastern Colorado, specifically Kit Carson County. The process is a collaborative effort with the Burlington Library in charge of maintaining and adding to the website. Shadows on the Plains seeks to keep our history alive by collecting 100 years of obituaries from Old Town Museum, generational stories and pictures from the History of Kit Carson County written by Janice Salmons, Marlyn Hasart, and Dorothy Smith, and more resources in the future.
