Description
Meet Feliks Zhukovski, a Pole in Paris, and a hangover from another age. Decades back he chose politics over people and ideas over love. His life's work is a travel guide to the old Eastern bloc. His personal life is a series of failures. Unfortunately for Feliks, it's 1991. Communism has collapsed, East Germany isn't the economic miracle he wants it to be, and at sixty-one, his travel-writing days are numbered. Setting aside his misgivings, he travels to America to see about selling his precious life's work. And so begins an astounding year in which Feliks learns the meaning of home as all his beliefs and prejudices are both rattled and transformed.
