Based on the Sam howe Scrapbooks, 56 scrapbooks (1883-1920) of newspaper clippings documenting nearly every crime committed in Denver between 1883-1920. Howe's motive wsa to establish a data bank of crime information.

Description
Civil War veteran Sam Howe turned to law enforcement and became a widely known detective on the western frontier. As one of Denver's original twelve policemen, Sam Howe, gained nationwide renown as a chronicler of early crime in this raucous and booming western community. This completed manuscript focuses on the evolution of Denver's prostitution, gambling, narcotic addicts and corrupt politicians and police.
